About Ibera Repair and Storage Products

Ibera has a range of products for bicycle storage, maintenance and display. They are suitable for home or bike shop use.

Easy Utility Stand IB-ST2

Stand Specifications

Supplied with rubber holding rings, x 2.

Material: Steel and nylon, with rubber-covered chainstay mounts.

Maximum Load: 15 kg (33 lb).

Folded size: 43 x 37 cm (17 x 14.5").

Chainstay Specifications: Maximum tube diameter 2.5" cm (1"). Width between tubes (measured inside to inside) 10 – 11 cm (4 – 4.3").

What kind of bikes is the stand suitable for?

It's suitable for most bikes with wheel sizes from 20" to 29".

It is NOT SUITABLE for very heavy bikes such as electric bikes and many fat tyre bikes. Maximum load: 15 kg (33 lb).

It is NOT SUITABLE for bikes with oversize or irregular shape (non-round) chainstays.

Can I use the stand with disk brake bikes?

Normally, yes, but if the disc rotor touches the stand, reposition the bike on the stand and readjust the width of the chainstay mounts if necessary.

My bike has a kickstand; can I use the Easy Utility Stand?

It depends on where your kickstand is mounted. Some side stands that are mounted on the chainstay, may make it difficult to use the stand.

What is the maximum weight the stand can support?

15 kg (33 lb). Do not use with very heavy bikes such as electric bikes and many fat tyre bikes.

Can I sit on the bike when it is in the stand?

No, it is not designed for that, and you may damage the stand if you do.

Can I use the stand for any kind of bicycle maintenance job?

No, it is designed for simple, light maintenance work like adjusting the drive train or brakes, cleaning and lubricating parts. It may not be suitable for major bike maintenance work.

How do you adjust the height of the stand?

Adjust the stand height by increasing or decreasing the spread of stand legs (the rear wheel should not touch the ground and you should be able to turn the pedals).

How do you adjust the width of the stand?

The width is adjusted by loosening the bolt underneath each chainstay mount and sliding the mount to the desired position.

When my bike is in the stand it is difficult to change the rear gears?

If your rear derailleur cable runs under the chainstay, the stand's chainstay mount may compress the cable, hindering cable movement. To prevent this, you may be able to position the chainstay cable stop (the metal braze-on) on the chainstay mount to avoid compressing the cable.

Do I need to use the rubber holding rings?

Yes, they are necessary to hold the bike in place. Take care not to lose these.

I lost one of the rubber holding rings–what should I do?

If you do lose one or both, try your local hardware store for something similar to use as a replacement.

WARNING

• Use stand only on a flat, stable surface.

• Stand is designed to support a bicycle only–do not sit on the bicycle while it is in the stand.

• Beware of disk brake rotor, kickstand or pedals touching stand–reposition bike if necessary.

Adjustable Bicycle Hanger IB-ST4

Bicycle Hanger Specifications

Supplied with wheel anchor strap, and mounting fasteners.

Material: Aluminium/steel, padded ABS frame holders.

    Weight: 1.05 kg

Maximum diameter of bike top tube: 5 cm (2").

    Hanger arm minimum / maximum width: 24.9 cm / 38.2 cm (9.8" / 15").

Maximum handlebar width: 750 mm (29.5").

Maximum Load: 18 kg (39.5 lb).

    Wall mount dimensions (H x W): 116.5  x 65 mm (46" x 25.6").

Minimum wall stud width: 4 cm (1.6").

What kind of bikes can be used on the hanger?

Most road, MTB, BMX, and other bikes can be used. All bikes need to have:

A relatively straight, conventional top tube at least 27 cm (10.6") long.

A top tube diameter no wider than 5 cm (2").

Handlebars no longer than 750 mm.

What kind of bikes CANNOT be used on the hanger?

  Traditional ladies bikes

 Tandems

 Some beach cruisers

Some full suspension MTBs (depending on design of top tube)

Very heavy bikes such as electric bikes and many fat tyre bikes, as the hanger's maximum load is 18 kg (39.5 lb).

Does the hanger accommodate both road and MTB handlebars?

Yes, but what is important is handlebar width, not type. Maximum width: 750 mm (29.5"). The extendable range of hanger beam (distance from wall) is 280–376 mm (11–14.8").

My MTB handlebar is longer than your stated maximum of 750 mm (29.5"); can I still use the hanger?

Yes. You can simply angle the handlebar/wheel slightly.

Can I use the stand for bike maintenance?

The hanger is designed for storage not maintenance. Though light maintenance may be possible, it is not recommended as extra stress on the hanger may compromise the wall mount.

MOUNTING ON WALL

What kind of walls can the hanger be mounted on?

The hanger can be mounted on:

A) Drywall* or Wooden Panel Walls.

B) Masonry or Concrete Walls.

Fasteners for mounting both types are supplied.

* Drywall is also known as plasterboard, wallboard, sheet rock, gypsum board, buster board, custard board, or gypsum panel.

Important Notes

A) For Mounting on Drywall or Wooden Panel Walls

Wall mount dimensions (H x W): 116.5  x 65 mm (46" x 25.6").

Minimum wall stud width: 4 cm (1.6").

Hanger must be mounted securely on a wall stud (one of the vertical lengths of timber behind the wall). Make sure you establish the position and the width of a stud before attempting to mount the hanger–a stud finder is useful if not essential for locating studs. (As spacing between studs, and the width of the studs themselves can vary (especially from country to country), it is difficult for us to give particular instructions about stud specification.)

To mount the hanger, the stud should be at least 4 cm (1.6") wide. If the stud width is less, it is possible to mount the hanger using the centre holes and only the right hole (or left hole), but bear in mind the mount may not be as strong.

B) For Mounting on Masonry or Concrete Walls

Use supplied wall plugs (screw anchors).

If you lack the DIY skills to install hanger, seek professional help.

Can I adjust the hanger arms while the bike is on the stand?

No, remove bike BEFORE adjusting hanger arms. Adjusting arms while bike is mounted may cause the adjustment mechanism to fail and/or damage your bike.

Is there a correct direction to hang my bike, e.g. front of bike facing left?

No, either direction is fine.

Can the hanger be used outdoors?

Yes, but clearly it will be better for your bike and the hanger if it is used under cover, and not exposed to the elements.

WARNING

• If you lack the DIY skills to install hanger, seek professional help.

• Do not mount hanger on drywall, or wooden panel walls unless there is a wooden stud behind it.

• Use drill bit of appropriate size and type: e.g. masonry drill bit for masonry.

• Avoid any electrical, plumbing, or water fittings hidden in or behind walls.

• Do not adjust hanger arms while the bike is on the stand.

Problems with non-scratch padding on bike stands or wall hangers:

Note: Ibera is unable to supply replacement padding.

If padding has come loose or come off:

For models IB-ST2, IB-ST4, IB-ST9, IB-ST10, IB-ST14, IB-ST16, IB-ST17:

If the original padding is in good condition, use a suitable solvent to clean off any glue residue from the stand/hanger and the pad. Re-glue it using a suitable adhesive.

If padding is badly worn or damaged:

Replace it with thick electrical tape or cut to size some rubber-like material you may have at home such as an old inner tube. You can also try your local hardware store for suitable material.

For model IB-ST3:

Use a suitable solvent to clean off any glue residue from the rim hook. Wrap it with thick electrical tape.

About Removable Bike Stands

Ibera removable bike stands are designed especially for high-end bike riders. They have the functionality of a kickstand without the weight and clunkiness. The compact, portable stand attaches or detaches instantly to a bike's rear wheel quick release, providing stability anywhere.

What size bikes can use the bike stands?

It is for 26" and 700 C wheel size bikes only.

The rubber O ring on the connecting joint of my stand is broken? (IB-ST6 carbon fibre model only)

The O ring is a non-essential part; the product is completely functional without it. However, the fit between the two connecting legs will be slightly looser. If you want to replace the O ring, try your local hardware store.

Maintenance Tip (IB-ST7 only)

If not using stand for an extended time, store it unfolded to preserve bungee cord elasticity.

WARNING

  • This product is not a kickstand–do not kick or otherwise turn or twist. When not in use it is detached from the bicycle.
  • This product is only compatible with 5 mm diameter quick release skewers (most skewers use 5 mm).

REAR CARRIER COMPARISON (Bike & Bag Compatibility Guide) – Check this before you purchase an Ibera carrier.

Detailed dimensions of each rear carrier model …

Can I use an Ibera carrier on a full suspension bike?

No, they are not suited for bike's with rear suspension. Our Commuter Carriers and Touring Carriers are compatibile with rigid, and hardtail bikes (bikes with front suspension only). You'll need a specialised carrier for a full suspension bike. Ibera does not manufacture these.

Can I strap other bags, boxes or other luggage to a PakRak carrier?

Yes, you can carry most things that you can carry on a conventional carrier by tying it on. Just do not exceed the carrier’s maximum weight limit, or allow anything you carry to dangle or get in the bike's wheels or drivetrain.

Can I mount a taillight or a reflector on a carrier?

Yes. They are equipped with a mounting bracket.

Can I fit a child/baby seat to an Ibera carrier?

Warning: Do not attach a child/baby seat to carrier. Do not carry people on carrier.

Ibera carriers are strong and sturdy but are NOT designed for fitting a child/baby bike seat or carrying a child or an adult in any manner. Doing so is potentially unsafe. It may also be illegal in some countries. Fitting a child bike seat to any Ibera carrier is done entirely at the user's own risk and will void your warranty.

How do I install a PakRak carrier?

The PakRak carrier is installed in exactly the same way as any other carrier. There are two basic types: frame-mounting, and seatpost mounting. Read the instructions that came with your carrier. For frame-mounting carriers you can also watch this video.

One of the small orange rings on the rear of my carrier fell off or broke?

That's nothing to worry about. These rings are purely cosmetic and do not effect function.

COMMUTER CARRIERS (Seatpost-mounted)

What diameter seatposts can use PakRak commuter carriers?

They are adjustable to fit a range of seatpost sizes. Check individual carrier product information for details.

What is the carry weight limit?

10 kg (22 lb).

Can I mount panniers on these carriers?

No. They are designed to carry top-mounted bags only. Using panniers may interfere with the wheels and is potentially dangerous. If you need to use panniers, you should purchase an Ibera (frame-mounted) touring carrier.

Will these carriers fit on a folding bike or a small wheeled bike?

They should, depending on seatpost diameter. Check individual carrier product information for details.

When I try to install my seatpost carrier it is too loose (or too tight)?

PakRak Commuter Carriers are compatible with a range of seatposts diameters. Check the specifications of the individual product for details. Insert one or both of the supplied rubber sizing shims to achieve a tight, secure fit.

Can I use a commuter carrier for off-road riding?

No, we don't recommend it. It is well-made and sturdy, but not specifically engineered for the extreme rigours of some off-road situations. If you do, you'll void your warranty.

WARNING

Do not attach carrier to carbon fibre seatposts.

Max. load 10 kg (22 lb).

Do not attach a child/baby seat to carrier.

•  Do not carry people on carrier.

Do not use for off-road riding.

Ensure PakRak or other bags are securely attached to carrier before using.

Ensure all bolts are tight before each use.

TOURING CARRIERS (Frame-mounted)

What size bike frames can use PakRak touring carriers?

The carriers are height adjustable to fit 26"–29" frames.

What is the carry weight limit?

25 kg (55 lb).

Can I mount both PakRak top-mounted bags and panniers at the same time on these carriers?

Yes.

How do you mount a touring carrier on a bike frame without mounting holes (eyelets)?

Many people use fasteners like loop clamps (P clamps), available at many bike stores and hardware stores. Use coated or cushioned loops so as not to scratch your frame. Ibera does not supply these. More info

If you have yet to buy a carrier, consider a seatpost-mounted carrier. Seatpost carriers however are only suitable for fairly light, top-mounted loads. They are not suitable for carrying panniers or heavy loads over 10 kg.

What is the purpose of the short vertical knobs on the rear of some carriers?

These are stoppers; they prevent panniers from sliding backward.

WARNING

Max. load 25 kg (55 lb).

Do not attach a child/baby seat to carrier.

•  Do not carry people on carrier.

Ensure PakRak or other bags are securely attached to carrier before using.

Ensure all bolts are tight before each use.

Can Ibera PakRak bags and panniers be locked to rear carriers to prevent theft?

No, PakRak bags and panniers cannot be secured on a carrier against theft. We use the terms 'Button Lock Mechanism' (bags) 'Lever Lock Mechanism' (panniers) to refer to fastening bags and panniers securely on the carrier so that they can only be removed deliberately by releasing the button or lever.

Can I use bags (or panniers) for off-road riding?

No, we don't recommend it. Our bags and panniers are well-made and sturdy, but they are not specifically engineered for the extreme rigours of some off-road situations. Many people do use them for off-road riding without problem, but if you do, you'll void your warranty.

Are bags visible when riding at night?

All PakRak bags and panniers have reflective trim to improve night visibility. Many also have a taillight hanger. Keep in mind, however, that night riding is inherently more risky than daytime riding.

How do I clean my bag or pannier?

Clean inside or outside by wiping or rubbing with a cloth that has been dipped into warm, mildly soapy water. Leave to air dry away from direct sunlight.

BAGS

PAKRAK BAGS (For PakRak Carriers)

I already have a carrier. Can I just buy a PakRak bag and clip it on?

No. Our standard clip-on system requires both a PakRak bag and a PakRak carrier. You will need to purchase a PakRak MultiMount Bag, which comes with an adaptor that can be retro-fitted to most third party carriers.

Why did my PakRak bag fall off my carrier?

Under normal riding conditions this should not happen. Possibly your bag was not clipped on correctly. The rear clip must fully engage with the 'lip' of the carrier. That means that once clipped in, the latch button must be fully out (flush with button recess). When engaging, push down on rear of bag.

The release button on my PakRak bag is running rough, (or dirty or stuck)?

Probably grime or dirt is wedged between the button and its recess. Push the button in and release several times. If this does not fix the problem, place the bag under a tap (faucet) and trickle water on the button area while pushing and releasing button until the button operates smoothly. Shake the bag vigorously to remove excess water, then dry with a cloth.

The release button is stuck?

If the button on your PakRak bag is running rough, dirty or stuck, follow these simple steps:

Remove mud or dirt by trickling clean water on button area while continually pushing and releasing button until it is clean and running smoothly.

Shake to remove excess water, and leave to dry away from the sun

WARNING

Always make sure bag is attached securely before using.

Do not use for off-road riding.

    Detach shoulder strap when riding.

PAKRAK MULTIMOUNT BAGS (For PakRak & Third Party Carriers)

What's the difference between a PakRak Bag and a PakRak Multimount Bag?

Both are top-mounting, clip-on trunk bags.

The PakRak Bag uses our standard clip-on system and can only be used on a PakRak carrier.

The PakRak Multimount Bag comes with an interface adaptor and can be used with third party carriers–you can use it on your existing carrier.

WARNING

Ensure adaptor is tightly secured to carrier before using.

Securing bag to adaptor is a 2-step process: attach, then lock by pressing button-latch in.

Always make sure bag is attached securely to adaptor before using.

Do not use for off-road riding.

    Detach shoulder strap when riding.

PANNIERS

Do PakRak panniers use the same clip-on mounting system as PakRak bags?

No. Ibera uses a different clip-on system for panniers.

Can I use PakRak panniers on other third-party carriers (non-PakRak)?

Yes, you can. They are compatible with PakRak touring carriers (frame-mounted), AND most other brands of touring carriers.

Can I use panniers on seatpost-mounted carriers?

No, you need a touring (frame-mounted) carrier.

Are panniers only sold in pairs?

Yes. We do not sell single bags.

Can I use panniers on a front carrier?

No. They are too large for a front carrier. Use only on rear carrier.

What are the two plastic panels that came with my panniers? (Applies to IB-BA9 only.)

These should be inserted in the two Velcro enclosed side pockets on the inside of each bag. They stiffen the bag and give it shape.

WARNING

Always make sure panniers are attached securely before using.

Panniers may be used singularly, but a pair of evenly loaded panniers provides better bike balance.

Do not use for off-road riding.

About Clip-on Handlebar Bags

With Ibera clip-on handlebar bags you can have your phone, camera, wallet, even a jacket, secure and within easy reach right in front of you when you ride. To remove the bag and carry it with you, or to ride without it, simply press the release button.

What is the difference between the two clamps available for handlebar bags?

Both clamps work with all our handlebar bags. The QH1 clamp is fine for most bicycles. The QH2 is specifically designed for E-bikes, though it may be used on other bikes. With wider, longer clamp arms, it fits around a handlebar-mounted display (monitor) on an E-bike. Both clamps are available for purchase separately as replacement parts.

The clamp is too small; I can't fit it on my handlebars?

The adjustable clamp is designed to fit most common handlebars from 22.2 to 31.8 mm.

With 4 mm Allen key, undo bolts. Remove bolts and washers. Clamp arms have two sets of matching pin holes for smaller or larger diameter handlebars – default position suits most bars. To change setting, push pins out with 3 mm Allen key. Reinsert pin into lower holes.

WARNING

• Do not use for off-road riding.

• Detach shoulder strap when riding.

About Seat Bags

Stylish under-saddle bags for all kinds of bikes: road, MTB and folding. Ideal for carrying tools, a spare tube, CO2 cartridges, phones and other personal items.

Are seat bags the same as saddle bags?

Yes, same thing. A bicycle seat is often referred to as a saddle. However because the word 'saddle' brings to mind a horse saddle, we prefer to call them seat bags to avoid confusion with bicycle panniers, which actually are very similar to horse saddle bags.

Do your seat bags clip-on?

Some of our bags use a combination of a clip and strap. Others just use straps.

How do I choose a seat bag?

For most people the main question is capacity. How much stuff do you want to carry in the bag? Will you be carrying everything you need in it, or will you carry some things in a jersey pocket or another bag? The next factor is whether you want the clip and strap type, or a strap on bag. There is no functional difference except the former is slightly easier to detach.

About Bicycle Carry Bags
With minimum disassembly, bicycle and wheel bags allow you to carry your bike on trains and buses. They also provide protection from scratches, dirt and dust.

When it's time to ride, the bicycle carry bag folds neatly into its own carry case and can be attached to the bike handlebars.

Are these bags suitable for airline transportation?
These are soft bags and are suitable only for self-carrying. If you are checking in luggage at an airport or sending your bike by post or courier service, you must use stiff cardboard packaging or purpose-built rigid bike or wheel cases.

ABOUT IBERA PHONE CASES

A phone case allows you to take full advantage of the great cycling apps available for your phone. Ibera phone cases allow full access to screen and buttons even while cycling. Cases come with mounts that attach to stem (StemClamp) or to handlebars (BarClamp). See below for information about mounts.

Some Ibera top tube bags feature phones sleeves.

WATCH VIDEO

Which Ibera case fits my XXXX phone?

There are hundreds of phones available: phones vary from country to country, and models are coming on and off the market all the time. We cannot give you specific phone case compatibility information. What we can give you is the maximum dimensions of a phone that an Ibera case will hold.

First, determine the dimensions of your phone by checking your phone user manual, the company's website, or by measuring it yourself. Second, check our 手机袋 page for individual case holding dimensions. Keep in mind that these dimensions are a guide only – most Ibera cases are not rigid, and in many instances a phone that is somewhat smaller than our given dimensions may still fit quite snuggly inside the case. And you can always visit an Ibera retailer to trial fit your phone before you buy.

Can I carry my phone in landscape mode?

Yes, all current Ibera phone cases can be used in portrait or landscape mode.

Should I remove my phone's protective case/cover before putting it in the Ibera case?

Yes.

Can I use Ibera Phone cases for off-road riding?

No. Ibera phone cases and bike mounts are quite tough but they are not designed for off-road use or rough riding, and neither, perhaps, is your expensive phone.

Can I use an Ibera phone case on a motorcycle (or other motorised vehicle)?

No. It may not withstand the vibration of motorised vehicles such as motorcycles, mobility scooters, ATVs, snowmobiles, and you will void your warranty.

What is the difference between the StemClamp and the BarClamp?

The StemClamp mounts on the bicycle stem. The BarClamp mounts on the bicycle handlebars and is also capable of carrying other items as well as your phone.

What other items can the BarClamp carry?

That depends on the model/configuration of the product. Once you have chosen a phone case, you can select from 2 BarClamp configurations:

Bar-mounted Phone Case (Model: Q5)

Included: Case + Bottle cage mount

Mounting options: Cage & bottle (not supplied).

Bar-mounted Phone Case & MiniBar (Model: Q6)

Carry phone & bike accessories on handlebars.

Included: Case + Minibar

Mounting options: Headlight, bike computer, bell, etc. (not supplied).

What is the Minibar?

The Minibar is part of the BarClamp mount. It is the ideal choice for cyclists who have run out of handlebar space yet still need to attach an accessory. The Minibar is a short extension bar (22.2 mm dia.) that allows you to attach a headlight, a bike computer, or bell etc.

The attachment clamp on BarClamp is too small; I can't fit it on my handlebars?

The adjustable clamp is designed to fit most common handlebars from ∅ 22.2 to 31.8 mm. The clamp has two sets of pin holes for smaller or larger diameter handlebars. Default position suits most bars – to change setting, pull pin out with pliers, or push out with Allen key. Push pin into lower holes. Use supplied sizing pads for further adjustment if necessary.

Refer to the instructions that came with your product.

Can I use an Ibera phone case on an exercise bike or a baby stroller, etc?

You can attach it with our BarClamp to anything that has handlebars or some other kind of round bar with a diameter between 22.2 mm–31.8 mm: bicycles, exercise bikes, baby strollers, etc.

WARNING

For users of Ibera StemClamp.

Do not apply downward force to case. Refer to the instructions that came with your product.

About Bottle Cages
Bottle cages (along with bottles) are an essential part of staying hydrated when cycling. Ibera makes a range of cages and cup holders.

All Bottle Cages

Cages are designed to carry standard diameter bicycle bottles: 73 mm (2.87").

Mounting Instructions

*Tools required: 3 mm Allen key (For model IB-BC13: 4 mm)

To mount this cage your bicycle frame must have a pair of threaded bolt holes, normally located on the down tube or seat tube. Allen bolts (x 2) for mounting cage are supplied. Use Allen key to attach the cage to frame. Tighten bolts firmly, but do not overtighten.

*Some of our packaging erroneously states that a 4 mm Allen key is required to mount bottle cages. This is accurate for one model only: IB-BC13. For all other bottle cages, use a 3 mm Allen key.

Adjustable Bottle Cages
Adjustable Bottle Cages allow you to carry bicycle bottles or smaller non-standard bottles.

Diameter Adjustment Range:

Models:
IB-BC17 60–73 mm
IB-BC4 63–73 mm (discontinued model)

Will the cage hold a soft drink or juice bottle?

Yes, but it depends on the size and shape of the bottle. Bear in mind it may not be as secure in the cage as a bicycle bottle.

Can I carry coffee in a disposable cup?

Yes, probably, it depends on the size and shape of the cup, but it may not be very secure in the cage so you don't want to ride on rough roads. And of course, use a lid!

I cannot fit my bike bottle in the cage?

If you have a standard diameter bike bottle (73 mm), turn the adjustment dial to open it fully.

WARNING

Do not use for off-road riding or stunt jumping.

CupClamp (IB-CB1)

Can I put my water bottle in CupClamp?
No, it is not designed for bottles, including standard bicycle bottles. *Use only tapered cups (wider at top than bottom).

Can I carry cans of drink?
No, it is not designed for cans of any kind. *Use only tapered cups (wider at top than bottom).

*[Width of cup used should be at least 78 mm (3 inch) diameter when measured 20 mm (0.8) from top of cup). For safety, when mounted in holder, cup should sit no less than 25 mm (1") above the top of holder.]

Will this attach to a standard bottle cage mount?
No.

Can I carry a disposable cup (paper, plastic or foam)?**
Yes, in most cases, but be aware these cups are not structurally strong and are only meant to be used for a short period.

**Some of our earlier marketing material stated, 'Do not use disposable cups' with CupClamp, but we have revised this–we think it is fine to use disposable cups as long as you use them with caution.

Can I use CupClamp on a motorcycle (or other motorised vehicle)?
No. It may not withstand the vibration of vehicles such as motorcycles, mobility scooters, ATVs, snowmobiles, and you will void your warranty.

Can I use the CupClamp for off-road, or rough road riding?
No, we don't recommend it.

Is it easy to install?
Yes, if you follow the supplied instructions. The only tool most people will need is a 3 mm Allen key (not supplied).

What diameter handlebars does the clamp fit?
It fits most commonly available handlebars from ∅ 22.2 to 31.8 mm. If you need to adjust the size to fit you handlebars, see diagram below, or refer to the instructions that came with your product.

I lost a bolt from my carrier (for example); where can I get a replacement?
If you need a replacement fastener for any of the following products, often the easiest and cheapest option is to source it yourself. The items below are commonly found at your local hardware store.

How do I clean my bag or phone case?

Clean the inside or outside by wiping or rubbing with a cloth that has been dipped into warm, mildly soapy water. Leave to air dry away from direct sunlight.

Zipper Care

Many Ibera bags and phone cases are equipped with zippers. Our zippers are reasonably durable, but proper use and care can avoid potential problems and extend their life.

The Anatomy of a Zipper

The Anatomy of a Zipper Grainline Studio

1. Avoid stuffing a bag too full as this can put unnecessary stress on a zipper. If a bag is overfull, try compressing the contents before closing the zipper.

2. Zip with the two parallel halves pulled closely together.

3. Pull the zipper by firmly grasping the zipper slider's pull tab–avoid using any extension cords or loops attached to the pull tab.

4. When using a zipper, use a smooth, gentle action. Do not force the zipper.

5. Remove any foreign objects like loose thread.

Cleaning

Remove by hand any obvious foreign bodies such as thread, or dirt or with a fine brush such as an old toothbrush. To remove grime, wipe with a mildly soapy wet cloth. If a zipper is extremely dirty or muddy, it can be cleaned with soap and water. Leave to air dry away from direct sunlight.

Lubricating

Lubricate occasionally (or after cleaning) by rubbing pencil lead (containing graphite), or a crayon (containing paraffin) along the teeth on the inside and outside. Dedicated commercial zipper lubricating products are also available.
